DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
The Diploma Programme is internationally recognized by universities who appreciate the programme for its academic breadth and depth. Students study six subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, the Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. Learners choose to study three subjects at higher level (240 hours) and three at standard level (150). All of these subjects allow students to make interdisciplinary links between them, and are drawn together by the Diploma Core.
The Core includes three subjects unique to the IB. Theory of Knowledge (ToK) aims to make students aware of the nature of knowledge, including personal biases. The Extended Essay (EE) is an independent, self-directed piece of research, culminating in a 4000-word essay. Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through meaningful experience such as sport, service work, performance, or artistic expression.
All of these components of the DP encourage international-mindedness and enable students to become critical thinkers and independent lifelong learners. DP students are well-equipped with attributes and skills which will allow them to effectively participate in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society.
