Grade 10 Launch Personal Projects at Shymbulak Retreat

Grade 10 students spent four days at Shymbulak Mountain Resort launching their work on the Personal Project, the capstone of the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

During the retreat, students collaborated with teachers to explore topics of personal interest, establish both Learning Goals and Product Goals, and define success criteria for their projects. The process encouraged planning, focus, and resilience while giving students the freedom to express creativity and problem-solving skills.

In addition to project work, the retreat included a variety of team-building activities designed to strengthen community spirit and collaboration. Students created team cheers, took part in a collaborative relay race, and competed in three-day challenges to earn points. These experiences fostered teamwork and perseverance, complementing the academic focus of the retreat.

The Shymbulak experience provided students with a strong foundation for their Personal Projects while reinforcing the KIS values of inquiry, independence, and collaboration.
