Iman’s Exhibition: A Journey Through Self and Time

Each year, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme visual arts students worldwide present their artwork in an exhibition as the culmination of their two-year creative and artistic exploration. The course challenges students to push personal and cultural boundaries, while developing analytical skills, divergent thinking, and technical proficiency as confident art-makers.

In April 2025, KIS proudly hosted its IB DP Art Exhibition, showcasing a wide variety of student works across painting, drawing, photography, video, sculpture, mixed-media assemblage, and installation art. These artworks explored themes that reflected multicultural experiences and socio-political contexts, while also delving into deeply personal narratives.

Among these was Iman’s exhibition, A Journey Through Self and Time, which explored self-identity, the movement of life, and the ways in which experiences shape both the perception of the world and the perception of self.

Her works are inspired by real moments and turning points—experiences that left a deep impact and revealed how time and change leave lasting marks. Each piece reflects not only memory but also the inner conflict, growth, and transformation that come with navigating life’s challenges.

One such work, Terra, depicts the self as a landscape, shaped by experiences that, over time, become part of a larger whole. Another piece, The Red String, symbolizes how all of these experiences, though different in nature, remain connected—woven into one continuous story.

Through her exhibition, Iman invites viewers to witness a personal journey and, perhaps, to find reflections of their own. Her body of work stands as a mirror of struggle, resilience, and the search for meaning.
