Zeynep's Exhibition: Connections and Relationships

As part of the DP Visual Arts Exhibition, Grade 12 student Zeynep presented a powerful collection of works exploring the theme Connections and Relationships.

Through her exhibition, Zeynep examines how connections are not always stable, visible, or easy to define. Her work explores the many forms that connection can take—not only between people, but also through memory, place, and identity. The exhibition considers both connection and disconnection, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationships and experiences that shape who they are.

Some pieces focus on human relationships, while others explore how memories and meaningful places contribute to a sense of identity and belonging. Together, the works encourage audiences to think about their own connections and how they relate to others, themselves, and their surroundings.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is Zeynep’s short film, Where I Belong, which she describes as her favorite piece. Through movement and atmosphere, the film explores the personal connection between place and identity, capturing how lived experiences shape an individual’s sense of belonging. For Zeynep, the work stands out because of its immersive and deeply personal nature, making it one of the strongest pieces in her collection.

Through Connections and Relationships, Zeynep hopes visitors leave with a deeper appreciation of the connections that exist within their own lives—whether through a relationship, a memory, a place, or even something they have lost. Her exhibition reminds us that connection is not always something we can see or hold onto, yet it continues to shape who we are every day.
